Of Creativity and Life::
"It's like driving a car at night. You never see further than your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way."-E L DoctorowEver since I discovered the art of intricate wire wrapped jewelry a few years ago, I've found that the more I'm willing to go with the flow of creativity spontaneously, the more relaxing it becomes--a form of active meditation. As with anything else, the lessons learned during one form of practice spill over into the rest of my life like magic. When I first began creating wire wrapped pendants, I had in mind some goal of perfection to strive for, as do many modern folk conditioned through so many social ways. Slowly I gave up the goal of the finished product as the reward and instead began enjoying the process of surrender to the present moment, intuition, relaxation and the surprise of the alchemy of creation that I was choosing. An entirely "new" way of perception opened up for me--closer to Nature's rhythm of letting things unfold naturally as they will. I do select the stones and the wire and then tell my ego--the little I--to step out of the way of the energy that wants to be born through my hands. And this makes all the difference :) Incidentally, I have begun working in gold this year starting with this custom designed 14kt gold and 14/20 GF wire wrapped pendant. And on another note, I treated myself to the first massage...of hopefully many more! Life is beautiful enjoyed!
